Nowadays, people comes across a number of shapes like triangles, squares, hexagons, circles, parallelograms, etc. there are various figures that have characteristic properties include length, breadth, height, diameter, etc. Typically, geometry is the most pragmatic branch that deals with the construction of geometrical figures by using some geometric box items such as rulers, protractors, and compasses. Here are the list of geometric box items and their descriptions and uses.
Compass
A compass is a V-shaped tool which can be used for drawing purpose like arcs and circles. Compass comes with a sharp tip on one end and holds a pencil on the other end. This is an only tool which is an insolent jumble of complicated technology. In the compass, the distance between the pencil and the sharp tip is considered as an adjustable. You can trace arcs, circles, and angles. As well as, the compass can be used to mark equal lengths.
Ruler
The geometric tools have two sets such as straight edge and the compass which helps to draw about any geometric problem and shape. The straight edge means a ruler which can be used for measuring or for drawing straight lines. The ruler comes with a long flat piece of plastic, wood or metal marked with units of measurement.
The ruler is graduated into centimeters and millimeters on one side and into inches on the other.
Protractor
The protector is a semi-circular disc which can be used to draw and measure the angles as well as it is graduated from 0 to 180 degrees and can be used to measure any angle within its range. The protractor has two sets of markings from left to right and vice versa.
It is shaped like half a circle and half-moon.
Divider
The divider is similar to the compasses with its V-shaped structure. As well as, it has pointers on both ends of the V-shape. The distance between both ends are adjustable and can be used to measure and compare lengths.
Set-Squares
Set-square is the triangular pieces of plastic along with some portion between them will be removed. There are two kinds of set-squares that are available. One has the angles 45, 45, and 90 degrees at the 3 vertices and the other one has the angles 30, 60, and 90 degrees at the vertices. The set squares can be used to draw parallel and perpendicular lines.
T-Square
T-square is a tool which looks like the letter T that assists you to draw lines that are parallel or in the square shape. It can be used in making detailed plans for buildings.
Other tools are bands and geoboard which is a board with spaced nails on it arranged in neat columns and rows. These two other tools are not considered pure geometric tools. Above mentioned tools are involved in creating and solving geometric problems. There are a lot of things that you can draw and solve with these geometric tools. It is available at any store; you can buy it online too.
